LVD plywood is composed of thin wood veneers stacked with alternating grain directions (one layer running lengthwise, the next crosswise). A key structural feature is that the two outermost face layers must run in the same direction; this balances structural forces and minimizes warping and shrinkage. Due to this construction, LVD plywood is commonly used for flat-surfaced furniture items such as tables, chairs, and cabinets.
Advantages:Excellent structural balance and surface flatness; high stability in hot and humid environments; superior resistance to warping.
Disadvantages: Higher production costs due to the complex alternating-layer structure.
Applications: Used for flat furniture components such as tables, cabinets, shelves, flooring, or industrial tabletops.
